Liam Vincent and The Odd Foxes announce new EP Breath, Blood & Bone
The Odd Foxes are now in rehearsals to record their new six-track EP Breath, Blood & Bone in autumn 2024, kicking off with Stuart Jones at Woodworm Studios in October.
The new release will bring together three new tunes with three songs that they have been gigging over summer 2024 at Bunkfest in Wallington, Alston Live in Cumbria, Tewkesbury Live, The Black Prince in Northampton, and elsewhere.
Title track Breath, blood and bone is a song that the Foxes developed on their writing weekend back in March. It started as a one-verse wonder by Rebecca, and has now gone in unexpectedly gothic and Moorish directions.
Keywords: duelling strings, toms, phaser
Liam's song Date with Density is the first Foxes track that makes direct reference to The Simpsons, and also addresses many of the culture wars themes of recent times. Among the band's tunes, it may therefore have the greatest potential to annoy all the right people.
Keywords: boats, statues, bagpipes
Keep Running is a classic Matt track, which means it has an irresistibly singalong chorus. After a few rehearsals, the band added this to the setlist for a gig in Cropredy during September and the crowd behaved as if they had known it for years.
Keywords: keep running, for, your life
Matt has also contributed Dead End, a song with the energy of Dropkick Murphys if they decided to join a political protest march. On this record, Dead End will be the track that earns the band their customary Parental Advisory warning.
Keywords: pieces, of, shit
Rebecca's song 4000 Weeks has become a popular part of the Foxes set, involving as it does Diz playing the bodhran, and the longest explanatory preamble known to the band. Audiences seem to enjoy singing/swaying/waltzing* along to the chorus.
Keywords: see asterisk
Closing out the EP is Summer's Secrets, a massive Liam-penned anthem about the inevitable turning of life's seasons and the folly of striving: we are all connected after all, and that's what's important.
Keywords: 'They also serve who only stand and wait'
Artist Rosey Taylor is working on cover visuals for the new release on CD and vinyl, as well as accompanying merchandise.
Keywords: mandala, pawprint, cave paintings, and much else besides.
